The Keystone State product accounted for 14 of the Red Flash's season-best 57 points in a 57-7 defeat of LIU. He bookended halftime with a 38-yard field goal and his 50-yard blast to help the Red Flash build a 26-7 advantage with 11:39 left in the third quarter. The nation's leader in field goals per game (2.00), Schmoke also assumed Saint Francis U's kickoff duties, averaging 55.0 yards on 10 attempts with five touchbacks.   Lovell Armstead and QuaSean Holmes each rushed for two touchdowns and Saint Francis (Pennsylvania) had six rushing scores in a 57-7 victory over winless Long Island University on Saturday. Armstead led eight rushers with 10 carries and 85 yards, and Holmes gained 61 yards on five rushes. Cole Doyle was 15 of 22 for 273 yards and one touchdown for Saint Francis (4-2, 3-0 Northeast Conference). Doyle connected with Elijah Sarratt from 49 yards out for the receiver's third straight game with a touchdown. Joe Toepfer led the defense with a fumble recovery and an interception.   Justin Sliwoski threw a pair of touchdowns and ran for another while Cole Doyle threw a scoring touchdown and St. Francis (PA) rattled Norfolk State 45-26 on Saturday. Sliwoski set the tone almost immediately when he threw a 26-yard dart to Dawson Snyder for his first-career touchdown reception and a 7-0 lead on the Red Flash's opening drive. On fourth-and-13, Snyder lined up to the left, ran a post route, beat his man and Sliwoski put it on him. It was the first of three first-quarter touchdowns for St. Francis (2-2) en route to a 35-12 halftime advantage. Sliwoski and Doyle split quarterback duties and the two combined to complete 20-of-29 passes for 290 yards. Jaylan Adams threw for two touchdowns for Norfolk St. The Spartans (0-4) have lost seven straight. Their last win occurred on Oct. 30, 2021 when they beat Morgan State 31-20 at the end of a six-game winning streak. - AP College Football

  2022 PRESEASON ALL-NORTHEAST CONFERENCE FOOTBALL TEAM: K Alex Schmoke, Saint Francis U, R-So.,...Schmoke, a redshirt sophomore, was a HERO Sports Freshman All-America and All-NEC First Team selection last season. His 88.2 field goal percentage ranked seventh in the FCS and his 15 total field goals made was third in single-season program history.   Justin Sliwoski connected with Kahtero Summers for a 60-yard touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage, Alex Schmoke added five field goals and Saint Francis (Pa.) defeated Merrimack 22-6 on Saturday. After the long touchdown to start things off, the Red Flash got all of their scoring from Schmoke. Four of his field goals came after Saint Francis was stopped in the red zone and his long kick of the day was a 39-yarder. Summers finished with five receptions for 107 yards and Marques DeShields had 97 yards rushing for Saint Francis (5-5, 4-2 Northeast Conference).   Backup quarterback Justin Sliwoski threw a go-ahead, 5-yard touchdown pass to Kahtero Summers after his 61-yard run set up the score early in the fourth quarter and St. Francis (PA) rallied to beat Duquesne 17-10 in Northeast Conference play on Saturday. Sliwoski entered the game to start the second half after the Red Flash (4-4, 3-1) failed to score with Jyron Russell at the helm and trailed 7-0 at halftime. Sliwoski directed an eight-play, 52-yard drive on the Red Flash's first possession of the third quarter, culminating in Marques DeShields' 1-yard TD run to pull St. Francis even at 7. The key play came when Sliwoski hit Brandan Lisenby for a 36-yard gain to the Dukes' 1-yard line.

Duquesne (4-3, 2-2), which hadn't lost to the Red Flash since 2016, regained the lead on freshman Andrew Smith's 39-yard field goal 9 seconds into the final quarter. But Sliwoski needed just five plays to find Summers on the ensuing drive and put St. Francis on top for good. Alex Schmoke kicked a 22-yard field goal with 53 seconds remaining to wrap up the win. Sliwoski completed 7 of 9 passes for 69 yards and ran for 59 yards on two carries. Russell finished 7-of-15 passing for 65 yards. Evan Nelson was 8-of-21 passing for 85 yards and a TD for the Dukes.   Lovell Armstead rushed for a career-best 116 yards, Justin Sliwoski passed for 166 yards and two touchdowns - his 45-yard keeper setting up the second - and Saint Francis (Pa.) defeated Morgan State 27-14 on Saturday. The Red Flash (2-3) sandwiched two touchdowns around a Morgan State three-and-out late in the third quarter to break open a 10-7 lead. After Sliwoski ran 45 yards to set up first-and-goal, Tate Myers caught a 3-yard touchdown pass, his first. Armstead ran in from the 3 as the Red Flash scored again in two plays, pushing the lead to 24-7 as the third quarter was ending.

Armstrong, a freshman, entered the game with 31 yards as his previous best. He surpassed that on one play with a 35-yard gainer just before halftime. Alex Schmoke added field goals of 23 and 47 yards, the latter a career-best. The Red Flash were first on the scoreboard when Sliwoski passed to Kathero Summers for a 23-yard touchdown. Morgan State (0-4) answered with a 13-play, 82-yard drive after the ensuing kickoff.   Jyron Russell threw for four touchdowns and Saint Francis made two big plays in the closing minute to defeat Wagner 39-24 in a Northeast Conference opener on Saturday. Russell's fourth touchdown pass, a 13-yarder to Judah Tomb allowed the Red Flash (1-2) to expand it's lead to 32-24 with 4:23 to play. When the Red Flash got the ball back and were forced to punt, Jordan Slaiby put a 56-yarder on the Wagner 1 with 54 seconds remaining. On second down, Raymond Crittenden had a short pick-six.

Touchdowns on consecutive offensive snaps in the third quarter put Saint Francis up for good. Russell connected with Josh McGrigg for a 46-yard score and then found Kahtero Summers for 34 yards. Summers also had a 13-yard scoring reception early in the second half to cut the Wagner lead to 14-13. The Seahawks (0-3) quickly answered with an 82-yard touchdown on a slant pass from Jaalon Frazier to Randy Fizer. Frazier also had a 39-yard scoring pass to Todd Simmons and a 5-yard touchdown run in the first half. - AP College Football

  2019 ALL-NORTHEAST CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM (COACHES): RS Nick Rinella, Saint Francis, Sr.,...Senior Nick Rinella (Collegeville, Pa./La Salle College) rounded out the first team with a spot as a return specialist. Rinella will end his career as one of the top return men in program history. He is the all-time career leader in punt return yards (654) and punt return yard average (12.3), while ranking second in kick return yards (1,240) and third in kick return average (24.8). He returned three kicks for touchdowns in his career. Rinella is now a three-time All-NEC return specialist, earning second team honors in 2017 and 2018.
